Fused Sentence

A fused sentence is defined as two independent clauses combined with only a comma separating them.

Example: Geraldine ate a green jelly bean sandwich, suddenly I felt nauseous even though green jelly beans are my favorite.

First independent clause: Geraldine ate a green jelly bean sandwich

Second independent clause: suddenly I felt nauseous even though green jelly beans are my favorite

These two independent clauses cannot be separated with a comma.
