Predicate Adjective


The predicate adjective is alignedwith a certain class of verbs called linking verbs. It ususally comes after the linking verb, and it describes the subject.

Thomas Jefferson has been drowsy during dinner since his spat with John Adams.

["drowsy" describes Thomas Jefferson]

Note: all the above are forms of the verb "to be"
